Engaging Fabric Displays for Wimbledon

Draw some inspiration for your next engagement campaign by seeing what the Wimbledon Foundation did with a little help from one of our fabric display stands.

Wimbledon Foundation

The Wimbledon Foundation aims to help change people’s lives using the resources and heritage of the All England Lawn Tennis Club and The Championships.

They used a fabric display stand to engage people with Wimbledon socially at the Wimbledon Guild Village Fair.

They used a backdrop image of the champion’s photograph view of Wimbledon with ball boys, girls, officials and a crowded centre court in the background.

Using props of the winner’s trophies – the men’s cup and the women’s rosewater dish – they asked people via the display to ‘Share your winning shots on Twitter or Instagram using #SnapForShoes for the chance to win a signed pair of Andy Murray’s trainers’.

By adding a potential prize, people are given an extra reason to take part and take a photo and share it.

From the foundation’s perspective, asking people to share their images helps to reach a much wider audience to spread their message.

Let’s be honest. Lots of people will take part purely because it’s a bit of fun. Photos where it looks like you’ve won something are always a good engagement choice – especially if it’s intrinsically linked to your brand.

Why fabric

By choosing a fabric display, Wimbledon Foundation made a perfect choice for an authentic looking photo as the fabric won’t create a glare when it’s sunny.

It also won’t be ruined by potential drops of rain – although the support structure won’t fair well if left out for potential downpours.

Just like a Tennis match, if it starts raining, it’s best to bring it indoors!

What can we learn?

The key to an engaging backdrop display for pop up events such as that used for the Wimbledon Foundation as well as exhibitions is to create something sharable.

Put yourself in your audience’s shoes and think about why they would want to take part. Could you offer an exciting prize?

What scenario could they be in that is relevant to your brand, audience, products or services?

You could even ask your visitors to choose from a number of props to show off their preference of your products, or to show that they’ve just taken part on your stand.

We hope that you’re now bursting with ideas for how you can create a shareable backdrop display to share your campaign further!

We’d love to see them if you tweet us @MarlerHaley.
