Step and Repeat Banners

The term refers to a backdrop that features a repeating pattern—most often brand logos—used for event photography.

The logos run in horizontal rows across the display, repeating the same mark (or alternating between a few) at regular intervals.

Each subsequent row is offset, creating a staggered effect; however, layouts can be customized, with logos aligned vertically as well as horizontally. In the end, the arrangement depends on the size and shape of the logos you provide.

These banners typically serve as photo backdrops at events ranging from press conferences to major trade shows.

Looking to create your own logo backdrop? Just follow these steps:

1. Alignment. Ensure all logos are aligned evenly, horizontally and vertically.
2. Spacing. Give your logos plenty of space or ‘padding’ around the border. Don’t drown them out with multiple logos.
3. Colour combinations. If you are using multiple logos, try using colours that complement each other – maybe try a collection of grayscale logos if there are too many colours.

Artwork Guidelines for Step and Repeat Banners

Before you send off your artwork, make sure you adhere to these essential guidelines to ensure a flawless print:

File Format

Your artwork should be in PDF format.

Size Specifications

Match the size of your artwork to the banner size or maintain an equivalent ratio (e.g., 2/1). This prevents any unwanted stretching or pixilation.

Resolution

Aim for a resolution greater than 150 dpi. A higher resolution means a crisper, clearer image. Don’t worry—we’ll verify the resolution before printing.

Multiple Files

If your order includes multiple items, send us an email (artwork@marlerhaley.co.uk) with your order number and a description of which files correspond to each product. Specify quantities where necessary to avoid any confusion.
